Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary



Epiphany’s mission is evangelization, both in the local and overseas contexts. Epiphany evangelizes through the spreading of mission awareness among the parishioners of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) in Singapore. It organizes outreach events and encourages the parishioners of IHM to invite non-Catholic neighbours to participate in its events.

In addition, Epiphany helps to maintain a Catholic presence in non-Catholic environments through humanitarian aid, mainly in the form of education programmes with the long-term aim of uplifting the standard of living among poor families. Epiphany seeks to show the face of Christ through visits, material aid and support of education to the poor.

Programmes and Activities

  • Local Missions
  • Runs Alpha course every year for non-Christians at IHM.
  • Runs a pledge programme at Advent encouraging IHM parishioners to pray for non-Christian or lapsed Catholic friends and relatives.

 

  • Oversea Missions
  • Run programme for teaching assistance of English to poor communities in Riau. This is call Teach and Learn.
  • Work with other parish groups to organise an annual outreach to poor communities to help improve their physical environment such as building roads, painting houses and providing better hygiene and food distribution.

 

  • Mission Trips
  • 2003–2006 & 2009, Annual mission awareness trips to interact with the Tanjung Balai Catholic community (30-40 volunteers).
  • 2007–present, Regular mission trips to Riau Islands twice a month to teach English (8–18 volunteers)
  • Ad-hoc missionary contact with other Riau Communities.
